As we enter 2026, we are so grateful for the opportunity to keep History Day going. The History Day program has continued thanks to the support of teachers, students, parents, friends, and our community partners–to all of you.
Due to major funding cuts in 2025, however, the format of our National History Day trip will change. As stated in our letter below, "We will continue to provide strong educational resources statewide, run local district competitions, run the State contest, and serve as the National History Day affiliate–making this program accessible to Hawaiʻi educators. However, we will be unable to organize HCH travel packages and chaperones for the Hawaiʻi delegation to the National competition and National ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi Showcase in June 2026." There will still be a National competition and project showcases, and our qualifying students will be able to participate–however, we will need to think through other ways to get them there. Our team will be with you as we navigate this new way of doing things, and we are committed to supporting our students so that they can continue to shine on the National stage. Check in with us regularly for more details. –Devin & History Day Team |
