Teacher Workshop on Hawaiʻi Island - Sept. 20

Join Social Studies and ELA teachers across Hawaiʻi Island for an upcoming workshop on History Day, a national history education program for grades 4-12 that promotes a project-based, student-led model for history and civics education that meets DOE Core and other standards.

WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHTS
  • Explore the teaching of historical research and creating a student-initiated history project through the History Day model.
  • Be introduced to the resources of UHH’s Moʻokini Library and History Department, and Lyman Museum.
  • Receive classroom resource materials and support for this year’s NHD theme.
  • Interact with Social Studies and ELA teachers across Hawai‘i Island.

This workshop is free through a grant from the East Hawai‘i Fund, and no commitment to participating in Hawaiʻi History Day is required to attend. Professional development support stipends will be provided to those attending.

  • Saturday, Sept 20
  • 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
  • UH Hilo Campus, Room UCB 127, 200 W Kawili St., Hilo 96720
Refreshments and lunch provided.
