Hawai'i History Day is part of a rich ecosystem of Hawaiʻi museums, archives, cultural centers, libraries, and other community organizations, all dedicated to mālama our history, mālama each other. A collection of memories and interviews with the community who helped create Bamboo Ridge Press, Hawaiʻi's oldest independent literary press. Insight into an important time in our local literary history.

Wth a legacy spanning over 130 years, the museum showcases over 25 million artifacts that narrate the rich history and cultures of the Pacific. Today, Bishop Museum is the largest museum in the state and the premier natural and cultural history institution in the Pacific.

The mission of the archive is to collect, preserve, and share the history of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts United States Province. It is known most for its collections related to the Kalaupapa community.

Hawaiʻi Congressional Papers Collection
The Hawaiʻi Congressional Papers Collection (HCPC) comprises the papers of Hawaiʻiʻs members of Congress from statehood in 1959 to the present. The subjects best documented by our Hawaiʻi congressional collections include agriculture, maritime issues, natural resources, labor, civil rights issues, the military, U.S. policy in Asia and the Pacific, healthcare and education, land, and federal recognition.

This site contains extensive stories related to the amazing, endemic kāhuli (snails) of Hawai’i and educational resources including an Educatorʻs Guide, art activities, slide presentations, and discussion prompts.

The Hawaiian Mission Houses Digital Collections
Digitized archival collection from the Hawaiian Mission Houses. The Hawaiian Mission Houses library and historical archive holds over 80,000 digital pieces and is home to one of the largest collections of Hawaiian language printed material in the world.

Honouliuli National Historic Site
Honouliuli National Historic Site preserves the history of the largest and longest-used confinement site during World War II. Run by the U.S. army, the internment camp held approximately 400 internees and 4,000 prisoners of war.

The King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center exists to interpret and inform the public about the judicial process and Hawaiʻi’s legal history. It promotes civic education and engagement by preserving and interpreting the history of Hawaiʻi through the lens of law, public policy, and the courts.

The Kohala Oral History Project engages community, illuminates history, and promotes the notion that every person makes history. The project features a collection of oral history videos as a living history of Kohala, through the lens of the people who grew up and live here. Many videos were created by youth historians and filmmakers.

The Kona Historical Society preserves the history of Kona to enrich, inspire, and inform our community and visitors. The Society does this through collecting, preserving, researching, interpreting, and disseminating the history of Kona. The archive consists of collections of historical photographs, unpublished diaries, journals, letters, family records and memorabilia, land documents, and selected Kona newspapers and articles

Lāna‘i Culture & Heritage Center protects an ever-expanding collection of more than 40,000 items that share the island’s story, and commem traditions, culture, history and art of Lāna‘i’s people and places. The Office of Hawaiian Affairs’ (OHA’s) Papakilo Database, is the ongoing development of a cutting edge and comprehensive “Database of Databases” consisting of varied collections of data pertaining to historically and culturally significant places, events, and documents in Hawai'i’s history.

Pili Productions is a nonprofit corporation formed in 1997 and based in Hilo, Island of Hawai‘i. Pili Productions sponsors projects which describe local and Native Hawaiian culture through writing, film, or other media.

The Filipino-American Historical Society of Hawai‘i (FAHSOH) normally coordinates several activities promoting Filipino American history throughout the year, as well as commemorating Hawaii's official recognition of Filipino American History Month (FAHM) in October.
